Fuge was commissioned a Temporary 2nd Lieutenant in the infantry on May 7, 1915. He embarked on the RMS Olympic (Sister ship of the RMS Titanic) to Mudros, arriving on November 22, 1915, attached to the 14th King’s Liverpool Regiment in Salonika. He was noted as attached from a reserve battalion to the King’s Liverpool Regiment as a Temporary 2ndLieutenant on October 20, 1916. He was again promoted to Temporary Lieutenant on July 11, 1917.
