Vtg Maine Native Woven Ribbon Small Square Basket w/ Hinged Cover Penobscot? '2'

Description

Vintage Maine Native Woven Ribbon Basket.  Believed to be Passamaquoddy or Penobscot, but not certain.  We recently purchased a number of nice baskets from a collection of Maine made baskets.  Many of these are in pristine condition.  This basket may have been exposed to a little sunlight causing some fading to the patina.  Most were never used and have no damage.  We will try to list what we have as time permits and plan on purchasing more from this source.  This basket measures 6" square x 3 1/4" high.  As shown this has nice patina.  We believe this to be a basket for your handkerchiefs. There is an old, very yellowed, ledger page folded in the bottom of this.  The outside bottom of the basket has very faint, illegible pencil writing.  Offered in extra fine condition.
