Being offered is a vintage Papago Indian, hand crafted and woven coiled oval basket bowl.
The tribe is located in Arizona.
This basket is craft from yucca, devil’s claw, and bear brass as the foundation.
The basket shows age and wearing in places and shows an age-related patina to the straw.
This is not unusually from exposure to light over the decades.
There is soiling, stains, and dust in places.
The basket could use a cleaning.
The weave is tight and intact so no loosening of the coiling.

The Tohono O’odham, as they are known today, or “Papago” people as they were called by the Spanish, live in the Sonoran desert country of southwest Arizona.
The ancient name they called themselves was “Tohono Aw-aw-tam”, or the Desert People.
