    Description

    This is a nice, original woven basket figure by the
    Tohono O'odham artist Della Cruz. Cowboy figure holding lasoo and is separable at waist. Handmade using native plants of the Sonoran Desert. A Tohono O’odham hoh or basket is made from a coil of bear grass sewn with bleached white yucca. Other materials used include green or yellow-green unbleached yucca, black from the seed pod of the devils claw plant and on occasion, red from the root of the Spanish or Shin Dagger. The card pictured was included in one of these basket figures.
    Measures 12" tall and 8" at its widest.
    Minimal wear, in very good condition! Recently purchased from a local art estate which included many Southwest Native American Art pieces. Some of them are marked Della Cruz and we believe all are her work.
