    Description

Please email with any questions. Antique steel engraving titled NEWFOUNDLAND DOG, 6" by 8", behind glass with black mat and 13 1/4" by 14 1/2" wooden frame. The image is a steel engraving published in 1846 by Richard Bentley in London. I think this may be a plate illustration from ANECDOTES OF DOGS by Edward Jesse which was printed by Bentley in 1846. There is a little faint foxing on the print. The wooden frame which is painted black with gold accents shows some areas where the paint has been touched up.
